Attitude, Educational Needs and Core Competency on Disaster Nursing

Abstract
This study was aimed to investigate attitude, educational needs and core competency on disaster nursing and to provide basic data needed for development of disaster nursing educational program. 181 nursing students enrolled in 3, 4 grade of nursing in P-city completed questionnaires. The data were collected from November 3, 2021 to November 24, 2021. The average level of core competencies on disaster nursing was 3.30 out of 5 points, which was moderate for the core competencies on disaster nursing. Attitude was 2.84 out of 4 points, which was over moderate for the attitude on disaster nursing. Educational needs was 4.44 out of 5 points, which was higher for the educational needs on disaster nursing. Attitude had significant positive correlations with core competency on disaster nursing and educational needs had significant positive correlations with core competency on disaster nursing. It is necessary to develop an disaster education program that can improve the disaster nursing core competencies of nursing students based on the factors affecting the disaster nursing core competencies and educational needs.
